Easy Jet

Has anyone ever flown Easy Jet to the EU? I'm not checking any bags but wondering if we're allowed to bring a carry on as well as a handbag. I know on flights from the UK to the USA you aren't allowed both.

Hey Pebbles!
I found this from the Easyjet website - hope it helps...I flew flybe & bmi between Belfast & England and the agent said to put my briefcase inside my small suitcase carry-on because they wouldn't allow 2 pieces through security. When flying to UK & home to US, I could take 1 personal item (purse, laptop, or briefcase) and 1 bag (small suitcase). This was on United. I got killed with overweight baggage fees on flybe, very cheap ticket, but extra costs for everything - even £5 for choosing a seat! Good luck - and thanks for your help with my travel plans there - it was a great trip! Hope this helps, Nan

EASYJET website: in upper right click on "About You Trip" link (under bigger tabs) and then on right hand side list click on "Baggage"
Baggage
Baggage Allowances

Each passenger is permitted

one standard piece of hand baggage to maximum dimensions of 55x40x20cm, and
Up to 8 pieces of checked-in hold baggage (each bag charged at £3.99 online or £5 at the airport) to a maximum combined weight of 20kg. A fee per kilo for excess weight is charged at the airport prior to departure

Liquids in hand baggage are subject to the following government-imposed restrictions:

The liquid is in a container with a maximum volume of 100ml
All liquid containers meeting the maximum volume of 100ml can be fitted comfortably into a transparent, re-sealable 1 litre plastic bag, measuring 20cmx20cm.
The plastic bag should be presented separately at security

You will be required to dispose of liquids which do not meet the above requirements at the airport security station.

Each passenger is allowed a maximum combined hold baggage weight of 50kg including any sports equipment, subject to available space. The maximum weight for any single piece of baggage is 32kg. Freight or cargo items cannot be accepted as passenger baggage.

Infants who share your seat do not have a baggage allowance.

Special Items and Baggage Charges

Sporting equipment

Each passenger is allowed a maximum combined hold baggage weight of 50kg including any sports equipment, subject to available space. The maximum weight for any single piece of baggage is 32kg.

Bicycles (1), golf equipment, and skis, surfboards, wind surfers, hang gliders, and firearms (2)

An additional non-refundable fee is charged per item per flight for the carriage of the above items as set out in our carrier’s regulations.

Payment of the additional fee increases your checked-in hold baggage allowance (including additional item) to a maximum weight of 32kg.

Where your total checked-in hold baggage weighs more than 32kgs, normal excess baggage charges as set out in our carrier’s regulations shall apply in addition to the above fee.

hi Nan
Thanks for that info. I saw all that on the Easyjet website I just wasnt sure if they considered a purse as part of carry on bags. At one time you could take one carry on as well as a purse, briefcase, laptop, etc. Now Im guessing ONE carry on means just that. So a purse would be considered a carry on.  :-\\\\

I would call EasyJet to make sure.  If I remember correctly, it was only flights going through London Heathrow that required this in the first place, but obviously airlines may have their own policies.

And it was going from Belfast to Heathrow that I had to put my briefcase into my small suitcase to have only ONE. So maybe one means one. I can't remember noticing the other passengers and what they had. But the space inside really is so small that I can understand limiting to one - as many purses have tripled in size over the years, and when I travel, I use a BIG purse not a small evening bag! ;)
Yes, calling would give you the best info. And the agents will tell you at the airport when you check in. Have a good trip!
btw...how are your kiddos? Are they done with the pox yet?

If you do phone Easyjet about it, make sure you don't say 'purse' or they might think you are talking about a wallet.
I fly Easyjet fairly often, but i never take on board anything more than a small cloth bag to hold my purse, passport & book.   All my other handbag stuff goes into my checked baggage.

i believe ALL flights originating in the UK allow only 1 bag, full-stop... regardless of airlines. at least every one i've seen. that includes purses, briefcases and laptops.

Yup, one bag.  Make sure that your purse can fit in your carry on, or vice versa.  But I think it's unlimited weight.

even some other countries are following this rule!

I heard again recently that the UK will look at their 1 bag policy again and make it similar to the US policy.

Some airports are very strict and won't even let you queue up if you have more than one bag.
