Limescale
« on: April 06, 2004, 06:19:03 PM »
Can't believe I am actually typing in these words, but here we go ...  ;D

All of my (drinking) glasses, darker plates, etc, are showing signs of limescale build up.  Any tips on how to get rid of that?

Same thing with the shower door ...

Very domestically yours,

I can't remember the name of the limescale remover I use for the shower, but it's in the bathroom aisle and is in a lime green spray bottle.

For my kettle or other things that are used for eating or drinking, I use either citric acid (available at the chemist) or the juice of fresh lemons, then allow them to soak over night.

white vinegar also works very well to remove lime scale on some of the smaller appliances.  It does stink though, so you might try the other ideas first. :-/

Brown vinegar works too.  ;)  And you can buy it in larger quantities and at a cheaper price than white vinegar.  However, this is all based upon prices in my local stores and on the fact that my kettle is never overly limescaled.

For the bathroom stuff I use Mr Muscle bathroom cleaner. Stuff melts off. For the shower glass door, I try using an ounce of prevention...after each shower I squeegy the glass. Would work great on the tiles, too, but there's just too little time to be total Monica.

For the toilet I use Tesco 100% toilet limescale remover.  Really works.
