Filing date?
« on: April 13, 2004, 06:35:27 PM »
Do I have to file an extention if I don't file by April 15th?

American citizens living outside the US get automatic extensions to file - however, as with the extensions you request in the US, that doesn't mean you have an extension to pay anything you might owe!  If you think you'll have to pay anything, the deadline is still 15th April.

I'm not sure what the extension is - I think sometime in June?

Helen, am I right?

That's the way I understood it to be as well Peedal :) I am in Houston at the moment,, and have done mine by hand, as I have a bit of a complicated set of circumstances,, and am still considering going by H and R Block to have them look it over before I send it off. It does help to know that I have til June 15,, but I want it in the post this week as I know I have to pay a bit, and don't want the interest to build up if I wait til June to send it off.

Yup, what they've said is correct. And the date for US citizens living abroad to file is June 15.

You are correct. Automatic extension is to 15 June. Note that this is extension of time to file and not time to pay.

You are all getting too good and soon will not need me on this site!!!
