It's the only time of year that I prepare English pancakes.  I use this recipe:

The golden syrup maple kind that is like £.99 is almost identical to american syrups. I was shocked! nice and thick, nice taste. mmmm.
Also aunt jemima pancake mix is avaliable in tesco!

I'm all set for our big IHOP pancake dinner tomorrow.  I found the 'golden syrup' you mentioned (we've never tried before) and bought that, and I have real Canadian maple syrup as well.  They did not have Aunt Jemima pancake mix at my Tesco but they did have Bisquick, so I got that to make the pancakes. We're having fried eggs, streaky bacon, sausages, and hash browns too.  So it's going to be a very healthy supper.  ;D  I can't wait!

Delia's pancake recipe is good!

I like American style pancakes, too, but definitely not in the evening and definitely not on pancake day! That's sacrilege!!  ;) ;D

No!  It's not 'golden syrup'!  it's maple flavoured syrup made by Tate & Lyle... the same people that make Golden Syrup!
you'll be disappointed if you're using golden syrup, im afraid...  :-\\\\

OK, I just went and checked and the bottle says 'LYLE'S GOLDEN SYRUP' (big in all caps like that) and underneath in smaller letters 'Maple Flavour'.  Is that the right thing?  Hope, hope.

That's the right stuff!
I was just worried when you said 'golden syrup'.
LOVE that maple stuff, even more than real maple!  :)

DH is away until later for a class so we are having breakfast for dinner again... UK and US style pancakes and maybe even some crepes for my mom as she loves them.  Dad likes thin but not hard ones, DH and I fluffy so I have a lot of people to cater for!

For those in the US, IHOP normally does a free pancake promotion on Pancake Day to raise money for The Children's Miracle Network. (You donate to the charity rather than pay for the pancakes). But this year because of it being Super Tuesday (Presidential Primaries) on February 5th they're not doing it until the 12th.

I just wanted to thank Littleladylovelylox and Genau on their "golden syrup - maple flavour" recommendation.   :)  We had a great pancake dinner last night.  My husband and kids loved the golden syrup and preferred it to the real maple syrup.  It is pretty similar to Aunt Jemima.  I liked both syrups but, to my surprise, preferred the real maple.
