A pound (quid) is about 2 USD at the moment. Here's a handy currency converter to give you an idea:

Oh I didn't know it was just slang for a pound. I check the exchange rate on pound/usd a lot on MSN. Lately it's been pretty good (for me.) For a while it was scary when the pound was 2.15/1.

Is Central London north or south of the Thames?

I got excited for a minute about a website called "bestlondonrent.com" but then I noticed they charge per person per night. That's so frustrating, how can the price be double for the same exact room just for having another person?

Google is your friend:

http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&hl=en&geocode=&q=london&ie=UTF8&ll=51.50949,-0.12557&spn=0.027939,0.080252&z=14

Seriously, though - a lot of the questions you're asking are very basic (what's a quid (a pound), how's the scenery on the Eurostar (dark), how much does an average Paris brothel cost (I really hope you meant hostel)), and a quick Google search will give you the answer. :)

As for how the same room can cost double when the occupancy is doubled, it's simple - if renters will pay it - and they will - landlords will charge it.  Most B&Bs operate on this scheme as well.

Well like I've said earlier you get more from personal responses, and often times I'm already here when the question comes to mind. People don't have to respond (and I'm sure many don't) when they think I can find the answer on google, and that's completely fine. Anyways, thanks for the response.

What's the price of an average Paris brothel? Or could we drink a ton of energy drinks and go for 48 hours straight? Or is there nothing to do in the wee hours of the night in Paris?

May I suggest Amsterdam as an alternative?  However, if you really want to go for 48 hours straight - that's probably going to cost you approx €7200.  ;)

My girlfriend really wants to go to Amsterdam as well, but overall we both want to go to Paris more. We're not going to be buying anything and eating as cheap as possible. What do you think it would cost? 7200 seems excessive ;P

Ah well - Amsterdam can be an expensive city, depending on the products and services you require.  For short trips to places such as Paris and Amsterdam, my husband and I tend to consult resources such as:

http://www.tripadvisor.com/

And you can't go wrong with Lonely Planet or Rough Guides either. :)

7200 seems excessive ;P

You're probably right.  The going rate for that is about €50 per 20 minutes, but I would think if you're getting 48 hours' worth, surely a volume discount could be obtained?

What do you mean 50 euros per 20 minutes? That's the average amount of money tourists spend while in Paris or something?

You were asking about brothels, and I am speaking of Amsterdam, not Paris.

Speaking of.. There was a documentary about the history of the brothels of Paris on BBC 2 (I think) a few nights ago. I thought it very interesting. :) They didn't mention anything about volume discounts I'm afraid.

Lol did I accidently say brothel somewhere instead of hostel??

Edit: HAHA, I see that I did. How come nobody was like, "Uhh aren't you coming with your girlfriend?"

Lol that's hilarious!  ;D

In any case, I'm not going to any brothels!

Well then you don't have to worry about parting with that kind of money.  Although I'm sure some of the places wouldn't bat an eye if you wanted to bring your girlfriend along - although that might mean the price goes up.

Related to the quid/pound thing, not sure if anyone has previously suggested this - but you might want to have a quick study of lingo on a website such as this:

http://english2american.com/

You know - "...two countries divided by a common language."  (George Bernard Shaw)

I am sure there are several threads on the forum already about this somewhere, with other similar websites suggested as well.

Lovely new photo Mrs R!
