Spring training looms!!! Hooray!
« on: February 20, 2008, 04:35:53 PM »
Well, it's nearly the start of the 2008 MLB season.

Anyone else looking forward to this? I've shelled out for the super-funky MLB.tv package and can watch every game from the comfort of my computer chair at all times of the night.

Any predictions?

Braves all the way!

Dream on! It's the year of the Yankees, baby.
And if you threw a party
Invited everyone you knew
You would see the biggest gift would be from me
And the card attached would say
"Thank you for being a friend!"

I'm very much out of the loop, I'm afraid! But I remember the days when Spring Training was the official start of the year for me. I used to go to Fort Myers (and Winter Haven before that) for my annual vacation every March.

Sox all the way!  ;)

Go Braves, indeed!  :D

I'm going to be in DC the last week of April while the boys are in town playing the Nats - definitely going to catch at least one of the games! I just wanna see Tommy Glavine pitch in a Braves uniform again!!

All we need now is for Mike Hampton to make it through training and we'll have a pretty formidable rotation. Smoltz, Hudson, Glavine, James, Hampton plus our batting and Big Bobby C and we'll be bringing home the World Series!

Haha...as I told a friend, that's a bit like trying to have a BBQ here in England without rain!

Heard that Smoltz might be starting the season on the 15-day DL - but he doesn't seem too worried (it's not as if that shoulder hasn't bothered him before).

Can you believe it? 15 minutes from making his long awaited comeback, Hampton pulls his left pectoral. On the 15 day DL he goes. In come Chuck James fresh off the 15 day DL and the Braves go down to the... erm... Rockies I think... I'll get back to you.

HA!  The day that Hampton went on the DL, I thought about this conversation (but didn't remember to actually post anything).  ;D

April has not been kind to us so far.  Hoping luck changes soon - I just booked tickets for the game against the Nats on the 29th!
