Value for money luggage recs?
« on: February 28, 2008, 11:23:31 AM »
Hi, we're (finally!) travelling to US for 3 weeks to visit my family, but we need some luggage.  I'm not familiar with UK brands and hubby is content with buying the cheapest of the cheap when it comes to anything.  Does anyone recommend a budget-friendly brand of luggage?  As long as it gets there and home, and roomy enough for belongings for the 5 of us, I'll be happy!

With so many airlines charging for anything over 50 lbs or 2nd pieces per person, the lighter the piece of luggage the better.  Some suitcases weigh 6-10 lbs so that only leaves you with @ 40lbs of stuff to be able to pack per suitcase.  Look into cloth dufflebag types on wheels.  There were always cheap choices at the open markets in Birmingham area that we used for some of our trips and they seemed to hold up.  We even used one for a couple of scuba dive trips with our gear packed inside until we found better bags for those items.  Happy travels
