Upstart art+music festival (organised by me!)

I've been holding off on posting about this, but now that folks are planning summer holidays and such, here goes...

Adam and I are organising a three-day art and music festival here in Weston-super-Mare. It will feature about 15 artists and over 20 musical acts. The focus is local this year, and it's going to showcase what North Somerset has to offer. The artists are incredible, the music is awesome.

Oh, and the venue... we'll be at the Royal Hotel, which is situated on the chunk of land that separates the High Street from the Seafront. We'll have their biggest room, the adjoining bar, and the giant lawn on the beach side.

Tickets go on sale tomorrow from upstartweston.co.uk and we've got an early bird price of £6 for one day, £10 for two days, or £50 for two day VIP (which includes the opening and a limited edition print). The site also has information about the artists and musicians who will be there.

It's going to be great fun and the best thing to hit Weston in years!

Wow!  That is fantastic!!!! 

I just realised I didn't put the dates! It's going to be 25-27 July 2008.

We're funding it through ticket sales, sponsorship, advertising, and a chunk of our own small income.

We've got a lot of support for it already, including from a council that generally hates all things art. We've had one newspaper mention and one radio interview.

The organising has been pretty mad. Within a week of quietly asking around to see if artists and musicians would be interested, we were getting people coming to us saying they'd heard about it through the grapevine.

It's really going to be a lot of fun, and the art and music we've got just rock. There's still other elements that we're working out, too, that will make it even cooler.

That's impressive!! Well done! 

We got more media attention, which cheered me up after my computer decided it needed a bit of a vacation.

The next thing to cheer me up should be a massive jump in ticket sales.
