DOB wrong on rabies titer results
« on: May 30, 2008, 10:50:35 PM »
Took a good look at the results from the FAVN lab for my boy Aidan today and noticed that they have his date of birth as March 2008.  Problem is that he's 3 years old!

Is that going to be a sticking point?  It seems like a minor detail, but....

Is it fixable?  Is it worth bothering?  ???

Do the lab results have the correct microchip information on them?

Yep!  The microchip information is correct.

I highly doubt that anyone is going to look THAT closely, but I was just wondering if anyone had experience/information with these kind of mistakes.

 :) thanks

I had one of my cats DOB listed wrong and pointed it out to the vet. He just put one line through it, initialed it and then corrected it. I dont know if they can still do that but I didn't have any problems.

I am pretty sure it doesn't matter.  Some of my paperwork has a DOB in August 2005, some in October.  I don't think that everyone even knows their pet's DOB, particularly if they are shelter adoptions.

As long as the correct microchip information is recorded on the rabies test results, then you're fine.  The PETS people don't really care about DOBs...it's mostly about proving that the animal on the test results is the same animal they are examining...which is the entire point of the microchip in the first place ;-). I would probably just have the vet cross it out & write in the correct date, initialing it or something.

According to the USDA, an official letter from my vet will do the trick.  They (USDA) will assume that the vet submitted the information incorrectly.

They had the birthdates for my two girls off by a few months (no big deal - I used these incorrect dates on the 98/2003) but they made my 3 year old boy into a 3 month old boy.  That makes for a BIG difference.

I think for everything that isn't just so (ie. vet issued rabies certificate that does not include a DOB) - I'll just get the vet to include in the official letter.

PS.  In Georgia and flying out of ATL on BA, the USDA papers can be submitted up to 4 months before travel (YAY!).  The Fit to Fly certificate (instead of or APHIS 7001) needs to be dated 10 days prior to travel and does not need to be USDA certified.
