Well I can tell you the "other" in Eastern Massachusetts is "tonic" 

I thought that sounded weird to me.

As in 2006, the strongest performers among carbonated drinks were companies specializing in so-called energy drinks, which are carbonated beverages with stronger caffeine kicks.

Annual volume rose 35 percent for Monster energy drink maker Hansen Natural Corp (HANS.O: Quote, Profile, Research), nearly 39 percent for the maker of the Rockstar energy drink and 19 percent for Austria-based Red Bull GmbH.

But the nation's top soft drink brands -- Coke Classic, Pepsi-Cola and Diet Coke -- remained the same.

Oh you can click on the counties to find out the data.  How exciting.  I wonder if the little islands of soda in the middle of say North Dakota are either major cities (snort, in N.D.) or where large universities are that attract more outsiders and mess up the statistics.

My nana always said "tonic." I switch between "coke" and "soda" depending if I'm up north or down south, since I've lived in both, I just tend to sub-consciously go with whatever I'm surrounded by.
