It's Calon Wen!! Cool! I used to live near there!  ;D

It does look like a really good idea, but I don't drink enough milk to buy it. I don't usually get through a pint a week.

I couldn't remember if we had them in BC or not, too. I guess it was a mark of my childhood, period. When I go back, I haven't seen them in ages. Have they been phased out in Canada / some provinces?

How big would you be planning to cut the hole?  ??? :) I don't think we spilt milk any more than any other type of milk container. :)

We had them in Ottawa in 2005.  You bought a special jug for the individual bags of milk to sit in, cut the corner and voila!  They did come in packs of three 2 litre bags so you're never dealing with huge amounts of milk.  Never had any problems with taste transferrence because it gets used up pretty quickly.

We also had them growing up in Alberta.

I actually like milk in bags.  It cuts down on so much plastic.  Storing the bags is another matter though because you can't exactly store them upright and they take up more room in the fridge.

haven't seen this but thought I'd throw my vote in for milk deliveries.  We just started them a couple of weeks ago and they're fantastic.

I haven't tried the bags but they seem like a good idea.  I'm not sure that jug would actually fit in our tiny fridge though?  We don't have any "tall" shelves, so even our Brita jug can't fit in and has to be left on the counter.  We get our milk delivered three times a week in glass bottles - five bottles each time - and I still have to pick some up from the grocery from time to time.

Sounds like you need a new fridge!  You got the room?  People are always giving nice big fridges away..

If we didn't have milk delivery I would definitely be interested in the milk bag/jug deal.  I, however, am so happy with our milk delivery that I will stay.  I also like that the money goes to the dairy, not to Tesco.

Can you get smaller bags?  I don't eat dairy products myself but my husband gets through 1-2 pints of milk a week.

Where do you get your milk from? I want milk delivery, because I'd much rather support the local dairy than tesco any day!

It's from Inverness Farmers.  I pay on a Thursday, so can get his contact number for you if you'd like.

Okay, I am off to Waitrose now to try the milk in a jug. If I don't like it, its only £2 wasted. I will let you know the outcome.

Ugh, I didn't buy it. The commitment was toooooo great for me.

It sounds that way to me too. ;) We rent and have a very small kitchen though.

Luckily, like Kathleen, I'm really happy with our milk delivery.

I also agree with Kathleen - I'd try it if it weren't for delivery. Delivery is a god send for us - I never have to run to the shop and never pour out milk that's gone off. I've tailored our order perfectly after a bit of trial and error so we get just the right amount on the right days. I LOVE it!

I just want to know how you get your 2 year old to drink so much milk?  :)

My 17 month will hardly drink any at all!
