Tri-tip!
« on: July 03, 2008, 12:25:24 PM »
Ok, being from California, especially the Central Coast, it goes without saying that I'm addicted to tri-tip.  I've always known that it's not very big outside of Cali and even unknown in some parts of the state.  I figured that the rest of the world had to do something with that part of the cow since it's so tastey, so I did a little bit of research.  It turns out that in the UK a tri-tip is cut into thinner steaks called "triangle steaks."  Wow.  I am so excited!  My addiction can continue!  Now I've just got to find said steaks.. Has anyone seen them anywhere?

Thanks for posting this.

My DH is from california and we had a few bbq's when I visited with Tri-Tip.  He's been looking for it over here for ages.  So, at least now I have a name to research with.

I've never seen that in the supermarkets. I think you'll probably need to visit a butcher and have a chat...  I havent had tri-tip since leaving Calif many moons ago.

Being a central Californian, I plan to BBQ some tri-tip tomorrow for the 4th.   I didn't realize it was a Cali thing.  ;D

I come from California, but don't think i know what tri-tip is.  I mean, i know it's meat, but i dont think i've ever had it.  I probably just thought it was normal steak.

I'm originally from Lompoc, CA and love tri tip, but haven't had it in ages.  Now I am having a huge craving for a BBQ tri tip and home made ice cream (thanks to another thread).
