Opinions or information about Keynsham?
« on: July 12, 2008, 11:05:14 PM »
Howdy folks,

I've been investigating job prospects in the Bristol and Bath area and think that Keynsham looks like a good place to live, at least on paper.  From a (very) cursory look, rents seem reasonable.  It's hard to tell what kind of town it is though.

Opinions?  Information? Experiences?

Thanks
Holly

Hmmmm.....if you have a family or are over the age of 60 I think it's a nice place to live. I have a coworker in his early 30s who's desperate to move out of Keynsham. He's not a crazy party animal or anything, it's just that boring. It does benefit from good bus and train connections between Bath and Bristol. When I was looking for places to live my friend who was already living here said since I wouldn't know anyone right away and wouldn't have a car, I should live close enough to the city centre so I could at least walk there and feel connected to other people. It was good advice and she was definitely right. Sometimes the small towns can feel a little cliquey. I don't know if Keynsham is like this, but I know people in other small towns have experienced this. You might want to consider living closer to the uni at first and start to get the feel of other places you might like.

duly noted, thanks.  So can you recommend places closer to the city?  :)
