i dont have a TV so they can send all the letters they like. they go straight in the bin, i never reply to them because they dont take a blind bit of notice anyway. I will not sign anything or let them in if they come round, or engage in conversation with them.
Quite right. If they don't have a search warrant you should
not allow them in as a matter of principle, nor speak to them, other than to tell them to get off your property. Replying to the letters will serve no useful purpose since they'll still send them out with regular monotony anyway.
It's this whole tone and approach which riles many people.
If you don't drive a car and have never taken a driving test, do you get monthly letters from DVLA warning you that if you drive a car you are breaking the law? Do they tell you to call them or write to tell them that you don't drive a car? Do they insist on sending somebody around to check that you don't have a car? No.
Do you get regular letters from the Home Office telling you that you don't have a firearms license and reminding you that owning a gun without one is against the law? Do they keep on threatening to send somebody around to check? No.
Do the police send you a letter every month reminding you that it's against the law to commit robbery and murder? Do they ask you to make repeated statements that you intend to do neither, then say they'll send somebody around to "confirm" the situation? No.
So why does TVL behave like a cheap protection racket?
"Pay your license or we'll send Louie and the boys round!"
