Our next book will be
Half of a Yellow Sun by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie.
Half of a Yellow Sun is set in Nigeria during the 1960s, at the time of a vicious civil war in which a million people died and thousands were massacred in cold blood. The three main characters in the novel are swept up in the violence during these turbulent years. This extraordinary novel is about Africa in a wider sense: about moral responsibility, about the end of colonialism, about ethnic allegiances, about class and race; and about the ways in which love can complicate all of these things.
We will set a meeting time and place (somewhere in Central London, most likely) a couple of weeks before the meeting.
Our group is very fluid, people come to the meetings as they can, so if you are a newbie, please don't be shy! We have had a different group each meeting, and wecome new members warmly! Come join us for interesting discussion, coffee, laughter and maybe even new friends.
