Has Anyone ever Used New York Airport Service?

Has anyone ever used them before? I'm flying out of JFK in a month and my mom has offered to pay for me to take Amtrak straight from Lancaster to NYPenn (saving me having to transfer onto NJT in Trenton), and I've been trying to figure out how to get from Penn Station to JFK safely. I found this bus service, $27 RT from Penn to JFK.  Opinions?

I know there's also an airtrain, but I really don't want to be dragging my suitcase around through the subway in NYC, a cab runs $50 ONE way (eek), so this bus looks like a good option.

Also, does anyone know where it picks up at Penn?

I'd do it.  I haven't used it but my husband just took a similar service from Newark to Allentown PA and it was totally fine.  This is definitely a better option than airtran when you've got luggage and don't want to do the taxi ride.

MTA: I don't know how far you are from Allentown but could you consider that sort of shuttle?  It would save you the transfer at Penn Station.

Same NYC to Allentown.  Some of them do stop at Penn Station, but no need to change buses of course.

Do either of you have a link for  the service from Allentown to JFK and know how much it costs? Allentown is about an hour and a halfish north of me, so I'm pretty sure I can get a ride up there from someone, especially if it would wind up being cheaper than Amtrak (Amtrak to NYP is $43 one way, and the bus link I posted is $27 RT)

This is definitely a better option than airtran when you've got luggage and don't want to do the taxi ride.

That's what I though too...the subway system isn't really luggage friendly.  I'd consider the taxi, but I'd rather find an option that's not $50 one-way.

I'm confused. they only list Port Authority to JFK and also don't list their pricing "/

I've used it before about 4 years ago going between LGA & JFK and back again.  It was alright, but was a bit of a nightmare going between JFK to LGA (running short on time), but that was my own fault for booking my flight to the UK & internal flights in separate segments.

I've used it a couple times and it's easy!  I took it from outside Grand Central, though I assume it's just the same.  You can buy your return ticket when you're living so you don't have to bother to buy a one way when you come back home and are exhausted.  Just don't lose it  :)  I don't know what terminal or gate it boards at in Penn, but I'm sure it'll be clearly marked on the big time table.

The buses take you right to the front door of your departure terminal.  I can't remember, but I think you tell the bus driver or the ticket guy your airline so they know which terminals at which they need to make stops.

hmm. $38 one way with needing a ride to Allentown, or $43 one way with knowing I'll have a ride since the train station is on my mom's way to work...I think I'll still go with Amtrak from Lancaster to NYP.  The price of gas makes getting the ride to Allentown to save a few dollars a little pointless, but thanks for all the information about it!

Thanks!  I feel a lot better knowing it's easy. I should feel a lot more confident about wandering around the city, but I'm really nervous about it....It's kind of funny. I was born in NYC, raised in NJ and yet I haven't stepped foot in NYC since 2000!
