HSMP but working in Ireland Mon - Fri ---- what do I need to do?
« on: September 24, 2008, 10:39:24 AM »
I work for a consulting company in London (under HSMP) but I have been sent on a project in Ireland.  So I am in Ireland Monday - Friday every week for the next 3 months.

Do I need to get a special Irish visa?  I would think not, but I'm not sure.

I reailze that soon I will run out of pages in my passport because of getting too many stamps every week.

Does anyone have experience dealing with this situation?

thanks in advance

If you are working in the Republic of Ireland then you need a visa for the Republic of Ireland.

The HSMP gives you the right to work in the UK, not the Republic of Ireland.  You need permission to work in Ireland.

This is the information for employment of a non EU/EEA national in Ireland.

I may be extremely over-optimistic, but if the company you work for routinely sends people to work in Ireland, perhaps there are people in HR who are familiar with Irish immigration rules or have contacts with relevant people.

Maybe you should give HR a shout.
