That's just the thing, though, I never know who will be good and who won't.

One year you get athletes who are good, the next they're not. One year you get a singer who is good but then some aren't.

John said in an interview that he didn't want people getting upset behind the scenes and I think it was quite good of him to bow out. I did feel bad for Kristina, though. She looked heartbroken.

I guess I just don't like being told who I should and shouldn't vote for (by the judges).  It's either a public vote or it isn't.  It can't be a public vote but only if we vote for the right people.
The person that I vote for this year isn't the best dancer but she's the one that I like watching .  Like I said, if there were people who really felt that Cherie Lunghi should have been kept in then they should have voted.  I like her quite a bit and thought that there were other people who are still in besides John Sargent who aren't as great dancers and probably should have been in the dance off.  John Sargent isn't the only one being voted for by the public because  of popularity.

I think John Sargent showed a lot of class by bowing out.  But it's a shame it came down to that.  As has already been said here, the producers know that not all the stars chosen are fabulous dancers, that's part of the entertainment.  If the show has become only a competition for great dancers then why not just produce a show of professionals?
Too much whining and complaining for me, the show has lost its fun.

I don't think it's the right thing to do.  And I think it's hypocritical of Arlene Philips to say 'it's sad when a contestant leaves.......' when she pretty much bullied him into it by going on a press blitz this week about how he didn't deserve to be on the show.  I'm disappointed.  I don't think he should win, but I do think he has every right to be there.

I agree.

But I think James what'shisname (Cherie Lunghi's dance partner) was really really nasty about John Sergeant on the Claudia Winkelman programme. He literally said that JS was being selfish and trying to make it all about himself by dropping out. Bitter bitter little man.

what a hypocrite as he also said on the BBC Breakfast show that Strictly was supposed to be about the dancing and not a personality contest.  He needs to make up his mind if he would have preferred JS in or out.  Also judge Len was interviews on Sky news and said that he couldn't understand why JS would drop out, he said it was ludicrous.  How can these people sleep at night.

This weeks was quite exciting. The fact that  Craig liked Austin's paso and Len didn't was quite a surprise. Usually it's the other way around. Personally I thought it was very exciting and I loved it.

I feel bad for Rachel as she doesn't appear to have a lot of public support and I don't know why. I think she's very good.

I can only speak for this member of the public, but I'm not crazy about her. I think she's technically excellent, but there doesn't seem to be any passion in her dancing. They're all really good this year (I think far better than at the same stage last year), so being technically good isn't enough anymore. Not for me, at least.

I just feel like Rachel is vacant. There's nothing there. Didn't Arlene comment on nothing reaching her eyes?
When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~ John Lennon

What did you all think of the outcome?

I was happy for either one of them to win and I was so pleased about Lisa (because I really really don't like her) but only because I thought Rachel was technically better than Tom, I wanted to her to win slightly more than him. But I did like Tom's personality more and I was happy to have Camilla finally win, she deserved it.

I so desperately wanted Lisa to win! I loooooove her! And, I thought she was the best by a long way. That expressionless little Rachel creature really got on my nerves. When all three of them danced in the first half of Saturday's programme, Lisa was clearly the best - and Tom was clearly the weakest. So, technically, I think he should have been the one to leave then ... but I'm glad he didn't! The show dance he and Camilla did was absolutely brilliant and, on the merits of that dance, he deserved to win. Overall during the series? Not so much. But, like Ashley, I was really so very happy for Camilla; even more so, probably, than for Tom. I think her choreography nailed the win for them more than his dancing did.

Ah, I miss it already!  :(

tee hee.

Just tell him it's important for us Americans to watch as much as this kind of telly as possible, it helps us learn british pop culture.

That's what I tell Jon "I'm learning your culture so I can understand what people talk about" and he just mutters.
