entry clearance
« on: October 11, 2008, 07:18:36 PM »
Hello all!  After a long work permit process (which I think may be almost done) I will need to apply for entry clearance for me and my daughter and husband.  I was wondering whether anyone can tell me how long it took for them to gain entry clearance as there seems to be no clear timeline...Thanks!

If you try doing a search on here the roundabout time is 20 business days...but it is different case by case, so booking flights, making travel plans before having entry clearance isn't advised. There is no clear/set timeline because there is a higher volume of apps at the moment...so what took 10 days 3 months ago, may be taking anywhere from 20 days to 3 months or more.

Have a look around on here...

When will you be applying? Have you already sent paperwork in for your visas?

If in fact the strangely worded e-mail I got on Friday is accurate (which I think it is) - then 5 days. I sent mine to the Chicago office and I understand that processing times vary from office to office.

HOWEVER....don't sit around and wait like I did. Get yourself a visa courier service and most people get their response in 24-48 hours. Costs about $50-$125 and many people were happy with the result. I wish I had done it this way (but that is another, long story)....

Vicky recently informed me in a similar post to this one that this is one of the busiest times of the year. Again...I stress....use a good, reliable courier service and you will likely get better sleep sooner.

Best of luck to you.
