I've never posted here before, but saw my name mentioned. Can I come play in your romantic movie room?

I'm a sap. Called Tim this morning because the train whistle made me think of him and I started crying.  Poor guy.

Today was such an odd day in this moving journey. It was my last day in Portland (Maine) and I spent a good deal of it in bed having a minor freakout about nothing in particular. I just couldn't get my brain to stop processing stuff that really doesn't matter that much anymore (like how many bags I'm taking and if it's better to get another bag that replaces two of them or just leave well enough alone for now. See? Really minor stuff at this point.)

And then I had to say goodbye to my two cats, Milo and Jasper. I've had them for five years, and these boys have personality to SPARE. Milo's more like a dog than a cat, and Jasper is like a teddy bear (likes to be cuddled like one.) In my long distance relationship they've been so amazingly helpful, giving me someone to cuddle and spoon when Nick wasn't able to. I thought about bringing them, but the pricetag was more than I could justify when my friends were begging me to take them (BIG personalities!) So they're off to live with my friend Abbey who will treat them right, I know. It's sad today, but tomorrow it will be fine. And next week when I'm with Nick, I'll have someone to spoon again.

It's always sad to leave pets behind, even when they're in good homes.  I'm bringing my dog and (male) cat with me, but my female cat is staying, mostly due to how she gets nervous/upset when we move.  (The lower expense in only shipping 2 animals is a nice bonus, though.)  I'm hoping a family member will take her, but I haven't seriously started looking for new homes yet.

Today was a mixed day.  Last night I found out that my foster kitty somehow escaped from the house, ended up 2+ miles down the road, and got hit by a car. :(  They tried to save her but she was just too hurt.  So I feel really guilty about that.

I took my horse to the vet, though, to see if we could figure out why he choked on his (easy to eat) food twice last month, and not only does there seem to be nothing wrong (yay), he was so laid-back about the whole thing that they just shoved the camera up his nose without bothering with tranquilizers.  He certainly wasn't thrilled about the whole thing, but he was willing to cooperate, which was awesome. :)  (And major yay for all of this being covered by horsey insurance, 'cause the few meds we did get were almost $500!)

Nothing else new to report here...I keep getting interest in my boy, so I may not get to compete with him again after this weekend. :(  I'm hoping this weekend goes well, though, so that if it is our last one, we'll go out on a good note.

And once he's sold and the house is rented...time to get into serious moving-planning mode!

sheateawholepie I totally understand the freakout with the move. Now I have spent about 5 months in 2006 with my fiance who was my bf at the time..and then 6 months last year and then 5 months this year with my fiance in the UK. Now I am back in the states getting ready to get married in a week and a half and then move back to the UK permanently. And all the other times were a little easy because it was kind of like going on vacation knowing I would be home again and I wasn't really living there yet. But this time it has finally hit me that I will be moving there permanently and I am stressing out over what to take..how to pack it how to ship it...I am sorry you have to leave your cats behind but you are lucky that you have such a good friend to take them...so I know what you are going thru and all I can say is take a few deep breaths...you will be fine...the move will be fine and next week when you are in the UK you will think what was I worried about.

equestriand I am sooo sorry to hear about your foster kitty...but I am happy that you have Horse insurance. That trip to the vet would have cost $5000? dear lord....well I am glad everything is alright and I hope you find someone to buy your horse....Good Luck

Elly - Good way to think and you get to go to SA to see your mom, ATX to see me on Monday <snort> Bob Schneider too! Head over the pond to get educated and be with your man - lots of positives. Plus they are going to a home where you can see them when you come back to visit! BIG PLUS! Just Breathe, that's all you can do ;-)

eques - what a mixed emotion couple of days! so sorry about your foster kitty but happy to hear your boy is good to go!
One last competition ;-( if they buy him it would be THAT fast...Can't they take him slowly so you can him and get used to it, well if they are close enough to you.

I want to say good luck but also give huggs b/c that will be hard for you as I can feel the love you have for your horse...

Well, it's more that no one shows in the summer because it's crazy hot, so our next main competition would be in late September.  (We could do other practice stuff in the meantime, just for fun.)  So I'm assuming that if someone this week likes him enough to make an offer, they'd buy him at some point in the next 6 weeks.  ;)

I'm definitely planning on taking my time with it, though, as I'd like to check references, ideally see where he'd live, etc.  (One person's in SC so that may be less likely to happen, but everyone else is reasonably local.)

We'll see...if none of these people want him, I'm happy to keep him longer, though that means more money goes to his care and less goes into my moving abroad fund.  I've got about 5 people interested in him at the moment, though, and he's totally awesome ;), so I'm guessing at least one of them will want him.  You never know, though.

Hey y'all. Yup, I'm in Texas. ;) Visiting my mom for a week before I cross the pond. I'm having a nice time with her. My stepdad is in hospice suffering from terminal colon cancer, so it's been a very emotional visit, but a good one, nevertheless.

I'm doing a lot of shopping here, and should probably stop because my luggage weighed 206lbs(!!) over three bags and cost $300 on the way over to Texas. If I don't reel it in, that'll be $450 on my int'l flight. If I can get three bags down to 50lbs each (and I think I can do it by leaving some stuff behind until I come back for my stepdad's funeral in a few months, sadly but likely) then it'll will only be $150. Here's hoping!

AND! Tomorrow I get to meet Zoyabean!! YAY!!
