Carey if you are going to bring your laptop and it plays dvds...you can always just play your American Dvd's on that...that is what Jason and I do...we watch my American DVDs on the laptop...or I believe there is a new type of dvd player that isn't region specific and will play every dvd no matter what region it is from...

I am sorry you are alone Anna...your man will be home with you soon...and you are with your man so that is wonderful

My dad has been sick for a long time with different things...and his breathing has been giving him problems...and they can't figure out what it is..so that is why he is back in the hospital..but I visited him yesterday and he seems to be feeling better and I have faith that they will find what is wrong with him...yeah I can't believe my mom would just give me her trip...I have to check with my boss today and see if they will let me have off on such short notice....

Carey when are you going to England to visit your man?

Beth...looks like we need to make you a list of sappy movies to buy lol...and I am with you..I love Colin Firth lol
But in Love Actually I get sooo mad at Alan Rickman for being a dork for what he does to Emma Thompson....stupid boy

Ah-ha!  Laptop playing DVDs - wonderful idea!  And yes, there is a multi-region DVD player; maybe I will look into buying one of those for him so that if/when I move there, I can watch my own DVDs. A little bit of a selfish gift, but who cares? :)

I am off to England on Dec 23rd!

Oh and Happy Monday everyone.  (blech!)  But only three work days for me this week!

I wish I had thought to get a multi-region dvd player.... I sold all of my movies at Movie Trading Company, but the extra cash did come in handy for buying those giant suitcases.

YEA!!!!!!  I bet you are so excited to get to England just before Christmas!   ;D

Josy-- that's *such* great news about you and Jason.  I'm glad things are working out.  There definitely is a point in the whole LDR thing where one starts to wonder "...is this even worth all of the waiting and time apart?" Unfortunately, I got there this weekend and was extremely close to throwing up my arms.  :(

31 days until I land in Ireland!  And my boyfriend and I just arranged his visit for spring break! I'm starting to learn that having days to count down to is MUCH easier than being apart and not knowing when you're going to see your significant other again.

Also, has anyone discovered the joys of Gavin and Stacey?  I've been watching the first season on BBC America every week (may be downloading the rest when I'm home this weekend) and I am absolutely IN LOVE with it. For some reason it gives me hope that LDRs can work out.  Even if they were always in the same general land mass...

For some reason I've become very absorbed lately in Television romances (particularly Gavin and Stacey, Tony and Michelle in Skins, and Chase and Cameron in House)...it's getting unhealthy.

Wow right before Christmas Carey that is awesome...hopefully if it all goes well I will be married and living in England and celebrating my first Christmas there...And you will be there to because you will probably be getting engaged this visit :o)  I am trying to think positive....

Well my boss gave me off work so I get to go to Disneyworld this week...I can't believe it....

Awww jewlz you sold all your movies...I am sorry to hear that...

Hi Jamie....yep you missed alot lol

Thank you Bbreslin...I am sorry you got to that point also about wanting to throw your hands up in the air and give up.....LDR's are hard...very hard...but well worth it I think...
I love Gavin and Stacey I have been watching it on BBC America....If you like romances though you need to read Twilight...that is the best love story ever....

There definitely is a point in the whole LDR thing where one starts to wonder "...is this even worth all of the waiting and time apart?" Unfortunately, I got there this weekend and was extremely close to throwing up my arms.  :(

There is a beautiful statue in St. Pancras station in London called "The Meeting Place".  David sent me an article about it when it was being built. The idea is that the woman is French and the man is British and they are embracing after a long time spent apart (since St. Pancras is one of the places you can catch the train to Paris from London).  I have a picture of it hanging on my bulletin board at work. In the article David sent, the sculptor had a quote that really hit me hard: "All seperation involves a suspended moment when one wonders is this forever?" ....it certainly does! Here are some pictures of the sculpture: http://www.bbc.co.uk/london/content/image_galleries/the_meeting_place_gallery.shtml
It seems like many people in the UK hate it, but I adore it.

I agree with you Brittany that it helps so much to have that next visit planned.  I told David that in order for me to make it through this, I always have to have one to look forward to, and he agreed that we will be sure to do it that way from now on.  How long will you be staying in Ireland?

I dont have BBC America anymore :(  But I may have to re-upgrade my cable package because I miss it so much and you are the third person who has told me to watch this Gavin & Stacey show!

The TV romance I am obsessed with is Jack and Kate/Sawyer and Kate in Lost.  Omg when Sawyer kissed her before he jumped off the helicopter... *swoon!*

That is a lovely story about St. Pancras! I like it a lot. And it is, so try.

I'll be in N. Ireland from the 26th of December to the 10th of January. I do wish my christmas break was longer, but I can't really leave until after Christmas anyway, or my family would be slightly irritated.

I LOVE Gavin and Stacey!!! Plus, Stacey is the blonde chick from Love ACtually (the porn stand in girl!) Skins is also amazing. I've finished the series already bc I just couldn't wait for BBCA to show them all. It's soooo amazing!

Carey, thanks for that link. :)

Ok, back to work. Dang it.

Tim and I walked past it on our trip to London, I thought it was beautiful.

also, I LOVE Gavin & Stacy. Tim directed me to it before we were dating because he thought I'd enjoy it.
