New SET-M forms 27th November (and maybe others)
« on: November 10, 2008, 02:28:46 PM »
I called the Immigration Enquiry Line today and they informed me that forms for the SET-M (and I assume the others) will be changing on 27th November, so any applications made after that date will need to be on the new forms.  Just to let anoyone who might be getting ready to apply to make sure they use the correct form if they apply after 27th November.

[Edit to correct month]

Just to clarify in the title it says 27th November then in the body December is mentioned?

Also do we know what might be changing on it and why they need new ones?   :-\\\\

Both November and December were mentioned in the body, but 27th November is the date.  I have edited the post to reflect this.

Thanks very much for this - I can't apply until December and I was about to print the form.

No word on whether the fees are going up, are there???

I was planning to send mine off on the 26th November.  Do you think, because it will arrive after the change, that it will cause confusion?  I know there are already long delays so I don't want to make it any longer or more confusing.

I made my PEO appointment today for SET(M) and asked about the new application.  I was told it would be available on the 15th, which I realized afterwards is a Saturday, so it's possible I misheard.  As my appointment isn't until December, and I don't feel like getting their tinny version of Eine kleine Nachtmusik drummed into my ears again when I'm on hold, I won't phone back to ask but will keep checking the website.

They will follow the postmark as when you submitted your application... So postmark of 26th = Old Application.  Postmark of 27th = New Application.

Does anybody know why there is a change? Is there a fee increase or something that is changing that will make it more difficult?

I am in the UK on a Spousal Visa but I have my KOL Stamp so I can apply for my ILR at anytime, my Life in the UK test is scheduled for November 22nd so if there is a HUGE change such as fees that will happen I will try to send mine off right after the test.

Any ideas?

There are fee increases each year in various categories from now to 2014.

We don't know is the simple answer.

Part of it is likley to be related to syncronising the documents with the new Tier 2 and Tier 5 introductions, part of it is likely to do with raising of the marriage ages from 18 to 21.  I think there is one change garry mentioned that makes things easier for some family based applications, but I can't rightly remember.  No change in fees from what we are aware of, so cross our fingers.

Rumour has it we will see the new forms on the 15th, so that should give us (barely) enough time to assess them and figure out if there is any significant impact.

Thanks you guys!  I will keep an eye out after the 15th to see if there is any new news, if there is and it looks like I should apply sooner rather then later then I'll just get my butt in gear!  ;D

Great, thanks very much for that:-)

Just phoned the HO to ask when the new SET(M) application will be available.  The woman I spoke with said it should have been available on Monday (which is what I'm guessing 'the 15th' actually meant) but will be available 'this week'.

Thanks PtC, I was watching UKBA like a hawk...  GRRRRRR...  I want to find out if there is any new hoops I have to go through.  I don't have much time.  My visa expires on the 6th and I have my in person appointment on the 4th.
