Please! Help me get creative with leftovers?
« on: November 13, 2008, 01:26:09 PM »
Ok, I made a beef stew on Monday night, Tuesday night MIL calls and says SIL will be by in 5 minutes with - you guessed it a beef stew for us.   :P  So, now we're laden down with beef stew and freezing's not an option as I don't have room for it.  My beef stew would've seen us through 2 days, but now we've got it for the week.  I enjoy it, DH tolerates it.  Can anyone suggest something I can do to make it less boring and jazz it up as if its another dish?   ???

Thanks in advance!

Turn it into curry.

Thicken it up and put it in a pie.

Top it with biscuit dough and pop it in the oven.

Add some corn and chillies and top with cornbread batter to make tamale pie.

The other suggestions sound nice....  ;)

Maybe strain it a bit, put it on a jacket potato and top with cheese?

Make up some pizza/bread dough, drain it a bit, and turn it into pasties.
I refuse to answer that question on the grounds that I don't know the answer.

Stir in some Pataks curry paste and make a curry.

Stir in some pesto sauce and serve with pasta.

all good ideas....

You could strain some of the juice off, thicken up the sauce that's left, and then put it on toast... ummm, you know, like "stuff" on a shingle...  ;)

Thanks for the advice everyone!  They all sound sooo good!

Filing them away at the moment.  I'm sorry to say I've not tried any of the ideas yet, as DH made pizza last night & the inlaws treated us to McD's tonight for setting up their new telly.  Tomorrow I think I'm going to make a pie and hopefully dimish the size considerably enough to fit it in the freezer.   :P
