Am I the only one who thinks A Christmas Story is the worst movie on the planet?

No, I never understood why people liked it.

I think A Christmas Story is just one of those sentimental childhood films for some people, like Goonies or 16 Candles. Let's face it, none of those are particularly groundbreaking quality cinema, but people hold real fondness for movies they likes when they were young, even if they're *whisper* a bit shite.
Ok, so I'm smug.

I think maybe i was a bit too old for it when it came out, so i just never got into it.  I didn't 'grow up with it' cos I was already grown up!  (ish!... i think i was about 20 when it came out.)
Not into the whole 'cute kid' film thing either, so it loses appeal for me on that score too.

But... it holds fond memories for a lot of people!

Thats a good point, I never thought about it that way. (But Goonies is a great movie  :) :))I never saw it until I was grown up and that's why I thought it was terrible the first time I saw it! Then, I had college roomates who were obsessed with it and played it again and again and it just completely turned me off.

It came out when i was 20, but i probably never saw it till i was at least 30, and by then... i was beyond redemption, probably!
