Any ex-pats in Exeter or the SW?
« on: November 19, 2008, 07:34:36 PM »
I travel back and forth between Exeter and Washington, DC about every month or so, and am permanently settling in Exeter next year.  I would love to exchange messages with any ex-pats in the area, and meet up when I finally settle!
Anyone with experience finding work, any agency recommendations, nice restaraunts (my fiance considers beans on toast and fish and chips a delicacy), or any other tips for making new friends!
I enjoy horse riding, and am having to sell my horse state side before moving.  Any recommendation for a riding center would be much appreciated as well!

Thanks!

Hi, there!  I live just down the road from Exeter in Plymouth.  Don't really have enough time to put down any recommendations as we are getting ready to fly to the US for Thanksgiving with my parents today.  We'll be back the week after next.  Will happily answer any questions you may have when I get back.  Welcome by the way!

I'm not an expat (I'm a Brit), but I live in the SW (Bristol) and went to university in Exeter for 3 years :).

Can't help with any Exeter recommendations (only been there once for a conference at the University), but I am in the Southwest, in Weston-super-Mare, where there are a handful of expats.
Another shameless promotion for www.mclevey.com, the best place on the internet to buy art.

I'm in the "real" southwest!  ;)

Nowhere near Exeter, though, I'm afraid.

South Bristol representing.

I looked into taking a day trip to Penzance and was floored to find out that it is 4 hours one way by train!

Definately wanting to explore the real SW!

I'm in Barnstaple and we come to Exeter at least 3 times a month to do some shopping and such.
