Weight Watchers ---- again...
« on: June 06, 2004, 09:36:10 PM »
OK guys, this is it!! I am officially back on WW tomorrow... I have a wedding in less than 6 months and lemme tell ya, the skirt on my dress is a wee bit tight now.

I know there's a couple others of you out there doing WW so anyone who wants to check in here on a weekly/daily or whatever basis that would be cool. I can't afford the meetings so am toughing it out on my own.

I'm going to go enjoy a nice scoop of ice cream now.... it's the final countdown!!

 ;D
When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~ John Lennon

i am not on ww....  but it would not hurt me to come here weekly and have a uky weightloss meeting to try and get the motivation moving better... I have a wedding to go to at the end of july, which I will at that time be meeting all of Tom's family for first time...  would be nice to at least be on the road to recovery from my 7 month weight gain since moving here.

let me know balmerhon if we should try and start a weekly uky support group?

If you start a support group I'll sure join in, I wont even tell you how much I've gained since the move here last August. I keep trying to start a low carb program and start off great but by 3pm I've blown it :-\\\\

well then anyone that may be seriously interested in a support group, let us know here...  we can try and work out a meeting of sorts in a private chat room, so that we can really feel open to discuss our weight issues...  and of course topics in the fitness board here

I know what you mean. I can't do the low carb at all. Which is why I'm gonna give WW a try. I did lose with them before but then we moved 4 times in less than 2 years so just completely gave up.

I'm happy to simply post here or have an 'official meeting' or whatever. I might just want to post "did well this morning - had a good breakfast and went to the gym" or I might want more.

Mfred... let's see how many more people are interested over the next week and take it from there?

OK, I'm already hitting hurdles here. I bought the point counter stuff on ebay but it's not very complete and I don't have access to a database. I just had a generous tablespoon of organic no-sugar added peanut butter (on celery) and can't find the points for it. Can anyone help?

You will be OK!  I repeat, you will be OK!  I had my last fitting two weeks before the wedding, that way the dress was perfect!  I lost 16 lbs before the wedding.  I cut out sugar and most carbs.  Losing weight is hard, I have fought it my whole life!  But it can be done, just think about how great you will look in that dress when you do it!!!!  also, don't look at it as a diet, but a way of life.

I'm really looking to lose about  15 or 20 more, so I am interested in a group thing too! It's so hard doing this low carb thing in the UK!  It was so easy to find stuff in the US!!  IS it OK to join even if I am not in WW?  Or is the point to be getting weighed and stuff each week?

No, you don't have to be in WW. I only have the books to count points and try to control my portions. This can be whatever we want it to be (as long as Leah agrees!).

I don't think we'll have 'weigh ins' unless people want them and of course they'd be optional.

Just post ideas and we'll see where we can take this...

I've got a subscription to the online WW so I'm yer gal for points.  A tablespoon of p'nut butter is 3.5 points.  Even the healthy peanut butters are coming up with 3.5 so I don't think it matters that it's sugar free, unfortunately!

I've been doing WW for about 2 years now.  I lost 3 and half stone on it in 2002 and have kept it all off since so it really worked for me.  I'd like to lose more but my motivation has lagged seriously since then.  I'd love to join the group.  :)

Modified to add:  I hated meetings and didn't go much at all...the stick figures there made me feel really crummy...so the online thing has been a very good thing for me.  I'd recommend it!

Thanks Wishstar,

That is SO unfair about sugarfree PB. What if I give you the kcal per 100g and saturated fat? Can you see if it comes up the same? I simply can't believe they would be the same! [592kcal/9.0 sat fat]. From there I can figure out what a tbsp is! Fingers crossed!

I can't afford the online verison hence my efforts to get a support network going here. We seem to have a good response so far! I did do the proper meetings route for a bit and hated them, too.

It's a whopping 10.5 points for 100g, with those amounts you gave.  Peanut butter is generally not a good diet food, sadly!

Well, I'm happy to contribute pointage when I can then.  Just let me know.  :)
