Slimming World
« on: January 08, 2009, 01:16:06 AM »
Anyone doing this? As I am in the states my dear friend has sent me all the info along with a cookbook and I have been doing it for 5 weeks. I was ill for 3 weeks with the flu so I have just started back up but have lost 6 pounds in total.

I am just loving it. I find it so much nicer than having to count all the points in Weight Watchers. I heard they might bring Slimming World to the states this year.

Hi, Jess!  I said hi to you on your introduction thread.  I have did SW for the past 2 years and lost over 4 stone on it.  I, much like you, prefer it and found it much easier to do than Weight Watchers.  All that counting points got on my nerves.  I quite in June as I became pregnant again, but plan on starting back to the meetings in March once I have the baby.  Actually, you can still go to the meetings and follow the plan while pregnant, but this one has been hard on me, and just haven't been very good about following it.  Now that I am feeling better I have decided that next week I am going to start following the plan again.  I would be happy to sort of buddy up with you, if you would like.

I have seen flyers for this around the village, but I don't know anything about it.  How does it work?  I thought it might be a Curves type thing....  ???

It's more like Weight Watchers, only better (in my opinion, of course).  This is their official website.  It can explain things much better than I ever could.   ;D

Now they have an extra easy plan that lets you eat just about anything and no need to count it. I do not see how it can work, so I am sticking to the old plan but many say they are still losing.

Since moving to the UK, in spite of me walking, walking, walking everywhere, I have put on just over a stone since arriving in the summer. So I need to get rid that gain along with another stone or two. I've done Weight Watchers in the past many times, all successful when I followed it, but I'm very burned out on WW and have been for the past three years.

This Slimming World deal that you all are discussing has piqued my interest. I went to their website and saw the week eating plan they have on there. I think I might give it a try once I can get myself organized and get all the food I'd need.

WVGirl ... great job on losing 4 stone successfully! Very impressive! Is there anyone else who has had good results with Slimming World?

Thanks, Americanmum!  If you do decide to try SW, I do recommend staying for the meetings.  That is what I miss the most!  It's a really nice way to meet and socialize with people who have had similar experiences.  It is where I have met a few of my good friends.  Plus, if you find you have any questions or don't quite understand things, you can get it worked out.

Yes, my friend, who is still going, gave me all the materials and info on the easy plan.  I am thinking about trying it.

A friend of mine told me about the MiniMins.com Forum.  It lists all the main diets going and people talk about 'em and offer support.  I've not had much of a look around, but it looks quite active and there's bound to be people with success stories and whatnot on there for Slimming World.
