Moving back to US... any tips for health insurance??

Hi everyone,

We will be moving back to the US in a few months and will have to get our own health insurance to start with.  I was just wondering if anyone has any tips to make it easier (ie bringing NHS records, calling ahead) I just want to avoid any pitfalls if we can.

Wisconsin.  Its just for me and daughter.  Husband is going to Geneva.

I think it's always best to take records with you. I moved back in Nov and made a few efforts to call ahead but never got any return calls. I *think* you may need to be in the country to get anywhere.

I am fortunate to live in a state that has systems in place to ensure that no child goes without health care. As such, because I am still job hunting, I was able to get us insured through them. But we'll have cover through my husband's job come April.

Not sure if Wisconsin has a similar program but it's worth looking at.

Thanks for the tip.  I was looking into it some but haven't actually called yet.  I think Wis. might have something like that as well.  I just wanted see what others have gone through. I will try and get our records before we go and possible some sort of letter about coverage.  Any other tips would be great.
