UK Pensions, Social Security, etc etc
« on: June 12, 2004, 12:21:14 AM »
Has anyone had any experience yet with getting ones money out of a UK pension to reinvest it in a US pension? Im starting to look into all this for Mart but I dont really know what to look for as Im not exactly well versed in UK pension and social security issues. If anyone has ANY info at all relating to any sort of topic like that, including UK tax while in the US, please plunk it in here :)

Thanks!

MarsBar try and get this question over into the Tax thread, Helen pops in once in awhile and she's up on all this tax and pension stuff.

We tried :-\\\\ They said (Lloyds - Kev was self employeed) that we were unable to do that. We just left it there and gave them our new address here. They said he could not touch it until 59 (I think).

hmm... *frown* Thanks for that Missy. I guess theres not much hope. Forbes said to Martin that they could send him a cheque so he could reinvest it in a US pension but we havent heard anything from them in months. The underwriters are Norwich Union and I just got a statement from them so maybe I'll try and fish around again. Will let you all know.
