Voting VERY different!
It was way more casual here. Less of a "ta da!". Odd to just be able to give your name without any proof of ID. I'm used to doing a lever/punch thing, rather than filling in something with a pencil. And, very strange to just put a big "X" in a single box and that's it! Though I understand you don't normally vote for several people all in one party, it was odd to vote by party rather than by person.
But the biggest difference was not walking away with a little sticker "I voted today!". I came out wanting everyone to know, and they treated it like it was no big deal. I think this country needs a small boost in showing its pride. I would have gladly walked around with a little sticker syaing I'd voted.
However, I must add that the people in front of us, you can tell it was their son's first vote because he was just as excited as I. That was really sweet to see.
