How far in advance can I apply for my spousal visa?
« on: April 14, 2009, 05:00:41 PM »
I think I have this down, but just wanted some clarification...  I got married last weekend and am currently planning to move in November/December.  Am I correct that I could apply for my visa 6 months before moving?  The visa will be issued for 27 months so that gives me a 3 month window and then I can ask for the visa to be dated 3 months in the future, right?
So I could apply in August and ask them to date it for October and then still be ok if I didnt actually move until December?  I am just thinking that come September-ish I am going to be a nutcase with all the logistical moving issues and would like to have my visa taken care of as early as possible without messing up the future FLR to ILR/probabtionary citizenship path.

Yes, your time line is fine.  Just remember that if you change your mind and decide you want to come earlier than the date on the visa, you won't be able to.
