dumb question, why is pcm more than per week?
« on: April 29, 2009, 02:32:10 AM »
I just saw a listing where the per week was 175 and the PCM was 758.

175 x 4 is 700, which is less than the pcm......why would anybody opt to pay pcm if they have the option to save 60 a month?

Because there are more than 4 weeks in a month. The apartment is $25/day either way.

There are more than 4 weeks in every month except February.  You take the per week amount, multiply it by 52 (weeks per year), then divide it by 12 (months per year).  So in your example, 175 x 52 = 9100, and 9100 / 12 = 758.

Unfortunately, you don't get the option to pay the per week rent x 4.

Ok that 52 x pw vs. 12 x pcm makes sense. It works out to the same, you actually save a couple bucks with pcm in the long run.

Actually there are 4 weeks in every month, most just have 2 or 3 extra days  ;D

Thanks peeps!

Apparently, it's negotiable because my lovely bf just negotiated our flat for a four week rate.  He also talked down the deposit. I don't know if that is normal or he is just a ball buster!

We've successfully negotiated our rent down on our last two flats. As sarahjoyhappy says, it definitely can be done, and don't be afraid to try.
