I say finally because I move to London in 2001 and didn't ship anything except via Fed-Ex. Then the dh and I decided to move to the US and lived there for 9 months. Now we're back in the UK (after giving away all our UK stuff before the US move) and want to ship our furniture. It is too pricey to re-buy in the UK everything we have and no way would it be as nice for what we could afford. We would probably spend at least as much as the shipping charges trying to purchase everything so shipping it is. We basically are shipping a one bed house (bedroom, dining room table and chairs, kitchen stuff (pots/pans/plates/cookware), and living room) which makes us think it will be at least $5k, but won't surprise me if it's more! Most of our clothes are already here.

I've requested quotes from Rainieros, Crown, Cadogan Tate so far but know there must be more who are reliable. Any recommendations? Also any ideas on how long it should take? It will be coming from FL to the London area.

Thanks!

We used Robinsons to move from London to Atlanta and did a shared container, we had 2 bedrooms, a couch, armchair, coffee table, and lots of boxes. With insurance we paid about 5000 GBP. It came in about 7 weeks, but it definitely took longer because we did a shared container - but was cheaper because of the shared container. We had no problems with them at all, they were great.

so far crown has gotten back the quickest and it seems reasonable. Anyone use them?

I heard from Cadogan Tate and they use Suddath in the US which I googled and see it's part of United and has lots of bad reviews. I'm guessing they are out based on reviews.

Still waiting for the others!

We are in the process of moving and are using Suddath/Sentry, they are fantastic. Texas to East Yorkshire - door to door service, it will be delivered to our new home 5th June - 4weeks how good is that!!!!!!
Highly recommend them.
