as I don't know if we can drink ALL our Grey Goose before we leave! And I'm not wasting it!  ;D ;D ;D

seriously, we love wine and have a small bit here. would love to take some of our fav Oregon Pinots and such.

Can the movers pack it all?

Thanks!

(if not, theres to be a rather large drinking party in the Chicago suburbs in early August.)

Well, it's two liters in your hand luggage. I know that.

In the end, I didn't bother to find out about shipping it with my household goods. I had visions of a bottle of something breaking open in the sea voyage and what my goods would smell like on the other end (not to mention possibly drawing the attention of HM Customs) and I chickened out.

I drank steadily and exotically in the run-up to my move, and left the nice kid who bought my house a bottle of Jack Daniel's.

Good luck getting a better answer...

They can pack it, but you will have to pay a HUGE duty on it.  If you have just a few bottles, put them in your luggage.  Otherwise, be ready to open your wallets to HM Customs.

I believe ours had a strict no liquid rule but we could move alcohol if we paid extra, and I agree it was quite a lot more.

Drat!

Looks like I'm going to be insanely mellow for the next few months!

Thanks for the tip!

I'll bring roughly 10 bottles of wine from MN as it just dawned on me I have like 15 bottles to get rid of and come June 1st (till Aug 15) I will be doing wilderness work (IE I can't bring the wine).  How the hell am I going to drink that much wine?

I guess you can supply your own going away party!!!
A friend wants to have one for us, I guess we'll donate the open liquor and the wine!

The bottles we haven't opened will go to my mom's basement. Thankfully, vodka does not go bad!

Hiya

You're coming to the UK, drinking the Grey Goose and Wine etc now will be good practice for when you get here !

As already mentioned, you will pay substantial amounts of duty and there's the risk of breakage too. Unless you're collection contained some very rare or expensive bottles, I'd suggest not bringing them over - there's plenty of booze available here!

Looks like it'll be party time for you ! I did chuckle when you mentioned you'd be mellow over the next few months - you'll need to practice in order to get to UK drinking speeds! - my current record is a 70cl bottle of whiskey polished off between 4 of us in about 25 minutes!

If you do bring your bottles, make sure they're very well packed and secured to minimise chances of breakage!

Cheers! DtM! West London & Slough UK!

Just pack them in your checked baggage. We checked around 6 bottles per bag and they all arrived fine! We wrapped in bubble wrap, put in plastic bag and then surrounded with clothes.
