Independent Financial Advisor
« on: July 03, 2004, 10:44:24 PM »
Hi,

Can anyone recommend an Independent financial advisor, someone with expat/international experience. We don't have a complicated financial portfolio or anything like that, we just want some sound advice on how to minimise debts we have in order to make the best moves possible and cover all bases.

I have searched all the Expat sites today, but cannot quite find the "right" company/person. I suppose really, it is more of a personal financial planner I want, the best and quickest, most viable way to achieve our move without making any (more) silly mistakes that may end up costing us a lot in the long run.

I did consider the taxes board, but this is not really Helen's thing and she has already helped us once this week already ;)

Any ideas at all would be helpful.

Thanks
Sheril

Hi Sheril
You may want to send Helen a PM asking if she could point you in the right direction. I haven't a clue who could help, but maybe Helen would.
Good Luck!

Thanks guys, I think I might drop a copy to Helen ( oh I do hate too when she has given so freely, bless her heart!)

Jemima, I suppose I am looking for the experience you had with Deloitte, but it's a bit embarrassing asking these firms when you have no assets, just income and debts you are paying off! I suppose I need a basic money expert really who can show me the best way & cheapest way to pay off what I owe and if it's viable for one loan to follow us. The bank have said it's okay, but then, in similar words to Christine Keeler " they would, wouldn't they"!! We make them a lot of money in penalties this way!

Even so, thanks for responding
Best

I notice that this thread is over a year old, but I'm hoping that people have found what they're looking for and have great information on who to stay away from, or who they would highly recommend.  Any takers?
