holy crap, it's really not been a good week in the celebrity world.

Quote
Billy Mays, the burly, bearded television pitchman known for his boisterous hawking of products such as Orange Glo and OxiClean, has died. He was 50.

Tampa police said Mays was found unresponsive by his wife Sunday morning. A fire rescue crew pronounced him dead at 7:45 a.m.

Good grief - I have the TV on and literally just saw one of his commercials. He drove me nuts, but he must have been making those companies he worked for happy.

How sad.
When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~ John Lennon

Not a good week for fifty-year-olds, she said, eyeing the calendar nervously.

His adverts drove me crazy too but he was good at what he did (selling).

How terribly sad!  :(

I heard this and thought it was a joke at first.  Poor man.

Although I think calling him a celebrity might be pushing the envelope a bit.

He wasn't a celebrity in terms of movies/music/books, but I'd say he was a celebrity in the infomercial world.  A large enough group of people know who he is, either by name or as "that OxyClean guy".

Oh man. Indeed, not a good week for 50 year olds......at only three years and four younger, I and someone very dear to me are having huge pause for thought and getting on a health kick, trying to take better care of ourselves.......

Billy Mays' commercials drove me nuts too; oh I had a huge pop culture hatred for them, but yes this is a bit of a shocker.
