Temporary housing for dog in the US?
« on: July 02, 2009, 03:53:44 PM »
We're starting the process of bringing our dog to the UK, but we'd like to leave sooner than he is able to. Has anyone been in this situation? Where did you temporarily house your pet?

We're looking at leaving about 4 months before our dog, but my family can't keep him. Any ideas of a place that could house him that wouldn't cost a fortune?

*ETA: I know there are other threads about picking animals up, etc. This question is specifically about what to do with him in the US while we're waiting for him in the UK.

S, let me talk to my aunt and her partner. If they feel your dog would get along with their own pets, they might consider boarding Henley for you. They board dogs but only if they know it's a good fit with the ones they have and the ones they board regularly.

When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~ John Lennon

Oh, and if not, I think they know of a good kennel in HoCo. I'll ask about that, too.

I'll ask around to see if anyone would be willing to keep him for you. Is he okay with other dogs?

Thanks!  :)

He's great with other dogs. And he's such a sweetheart with kids, too. This dog is really the best dog we could have ever had!

S, could you PM me details about him? Breed, size/weight, if he responsive to important commands, diet, etc. Also, what would your foresee the boarder needing to do to comply with the PETS scheme?
