Following the demise of Setanta, ESPN is part of the same package that includes Sky News, Sky Sports News, Eurosport, Fox News etc.

Yeah, we noticed the other day that it had showed up again, despite having cancelled NASN/Setanta back in January after the college football season was over.  Hooray for free baseball! :D

Vicky

At the moment it is, but as I said in another thread I think they will package it with their Premier League rights come the start of the season.

Then again the BBC have part of this wrong

"ESPN also owns rights to show American football, ice hockey, baseball and college football and basketball throughout Europe, which it used to show in the UK on its ESPN America channel. "  - They can't show American Football as in NFL in the UK as Sky have those rights

Oooooooh... ESPN!  Thanks for the heads up.  I'll have to look for it this weekend!  I'm excited to be able to pull out my Minnesota Vikings Jerseys again and watch some American football.  I sadly doubt Minnesota will ever make it on ESPN though.   :(

ESPN America does not have the rights to show NFL in the UK, you need Sky Sports for that

Yeah, ESPN America only shows college games.  Fine by me as I've never really been an NFL fan at all! ;D

Well that was fun while it lasted.

If you want ESPN America now, you have to subscribe to Sky Sports and add ESPN America on top of it.  If you don't have either one at the moment, you can add both for £27/month, which, in my opinion, is a rip-off.  If you already have Sky Sports, you can add ESPN America for £9/month, which is also, in my opinion, a rip-off.  There doesn't seem to be an "ESPN America without Sky Sports" choice.

This year we're going to get a Sling Box, set it up at my parents' house in the states, and watch the NFL over the internet.

Its £9 a month for ESPN if you already have Sky Sports, or £12 a month if you don't have Sky Sports.

Also - I believe if you are on Virgin Cable it's included in their XL package.

And thankfully ESPN America remains as a separate channel - I was worried when I saw an article about the UK sports they had and then saying they'd fill with US sports.

FYI for those on Virgin - right now it seems to be appearing as an available channel (possibly as a temporary free trial?) on the L package.  It might disappear, as we've had this happen with 'premium' channels before...

I'm gutted ESPN America has gone into a subscription package and I'm considering getting ESPN to satisfy my baseball fix. To make matters worse the Royals were on yesterday too (although not being able to watch them may be a blessing in disguise!)

Molly however isn't as upset that I can't watch hours of baseball  :D

... £12 a month if you don't have Sky Sports.

Ah, didn't see that option on the website, which I'm sure is intentional, because Sky are ba$tards.  :)

Gimme ESPN360.com

Much better value, in my opinion. As long as you don't mind watching games on the computer, which I don't.
