This is one of many I took while my mum was visiting. It was taken on the Holy Island of Lindisfarne, which is off the Northumberland coast.

Wow!  It's beautiful!!  I've always wanted to go there.  You've really inspired me to really look into going there.  Thanks for sharing.

Definately a pretty place. Lots to see with the Castle and the Priory ruins. Pretty Island. Of course there is also the famous causway over to the island which is covered by the tide so is ony passable at certain times of the day. So one has to consult the tides when wanting to cross.

Nice photo of the castle!  I remember feeling so disappointed coming across the causeway and seeing a not very castle-y looking castle...until I got around to that side.

Unfortunately it was closed the day we were there, but there was still plenty to see and do.  Just relaxing in Gertrude Jekyll's garden was worth the trip!

Lovely!!! My husband, MIL and I were driving through Northumberland last year (October/November) and we impulsively decided to stop at Holy Island (luckily it was the right time for the tides!) and it was amazing! Didn't have enough time to make it to the castle, but it was lovely. I saw a little harbor seal just chillin' along the side of the causeway too. It made my day!

My heart still belongs to Yorkshire, but gosh, Northumberland is giving Yorkshire a run for its money. Alnwick Castle...Holy Island...the Cheviot hills...there's a lot to love about Northumberland!

Best of both worlds...live in Yorkshire, holiday in Northumberland.  8)

Next time you're all up this way in Northumberland why take a trip to Alnwick Castle, this is where the Harry potter movies were made.

Lovely pic, Kay.  I haven't been to Lindisfarne but have been to Bamburgh.  Walked up the beach to Bamburgh castle from Seahouses(?).  I'd love to go back and visit Alnwick and Lindisfarne.

We're booked to stay at a caravan park on Alnwick grounds for a holiday next year!  Can't wait!  It's the Harry Potter castle.

Oh, that'll be nice!  Don't know the location but if it's anywhere near Bamburgh you need to see it.  It is just too cool to see a castle almost on the beach!
