Boyfriend's Dad passed away
« on: August 16, 2009, 03:04:37 AM »
My boyfriend called me this afternoon and told me his dad has just passed away. He had been battling with cancer for the last 2 years and its been a painful experience. I kills me not be able to be there by his side to comfort him, to hug him, just to support him and be with him right now.
Since I live in the US and can't fly to Manchester for the funeral, I wanted to do a little something to show my sympathy and condolences to his family. I was wondering if sending flowers will be a good idea and if so does anybody know a good and reliable place to buy flowers from online?
If anybody has been in a similar situation, I would love some suggestions.
Thanks!

I am sooo sorry to hear about your boyfriend's father...I know how tough it is to not be able to be there when something like this happens...Flowers sound like a great idea...My fiance and I have used 1-800-PRO-FLOWERS I believe they have a website as well...and the flowers are always fresh whether shipping them in the states or the UK...
The Easter before last I sent mom flowers to the states from the UK..and Fed Ex messed up the delivery day and stuff...because of it Pro Flowers called me. And refunded me the money for my mothers flowers...and redelivered free of charge another arrangement and through in a dozen roses for the inconvenience...they are very helpful and the flowers last a long time...

When Tim's gran passed away, I ordered flowers online through M&S.  It was loads cheaper than a florist. Tim's mum loved the flowers and they lasted a good long while, too.

Thank you JEP and Becca. I am going to order some flowers tonight. The sooner they can deliver is on Tuesday which I think it will work out as they will be busy with the funeral arrangements and everything else for the next two days.
Thanks for the suggestions, much appreaciated.

Goodluck Pitufina....I know how difficult this must be for both of you. But right now you can just be there for him. Even though you are thousands of miles away he will know you are thinking of him. And that is what he needs. If you need anything or have anymore questions just let me know

When I still lived in the US and dh and I were dating, his mother passed away.  It is so hard because it is so expensive to travel last minute.  I think I found a few online places as well as Marks and Spencerst that would do flowers, but I can't remember who I went with, I'm sorry.  My deepest sympathies to you and your boyfriend.

I'm so sorry Pitufina, for you and your boyfriend. I now how hard it is to be away from your loved one when he is suffering grief.  I ordered flowers online from M&S once when I was in the US and they turned out to be very nice.

Thanks everyone for your kind words. I ordered flowers from M&S and they were really quick with the delivery, and his mom loved them. Whatever I can do to show that I am there in spirit for him and his family counts, and it was the least I could do at this moment. Like JEP said "Even though you are thousands of miles away he will know you are thinking of him"
Thanks againg for your suggestions. It really helped.
