Our Interview Date has been Scheduled !
« on: July 23, 2004, 04:05:12 PM »
Hello,

I just wanted to inform everybody that I emailed the Embassy today and they replied, with an interview date!!!!!  :D

We are scheduled for 8:00 a.m. Friday, August 27.

I can't believe it.  I'm so incredibly happy.  I'll be nervous about the interview, but still, I'm very happy.

Good luck Kellie. It'll be fine. Just remember to take something to read!

Hey Kellie,

That is great news.  Ours is the 17th.  I will let u know how it goes.  They say there really shouldn't be anything to be nervous about, but you just can't help it.

Anyway, best of luck.

Melanie and Big Ridge,

Thanks for your well wishes and advice; BR I will be SURE to bring plenty of reading apparatus!

Melanie, I wish you luck and look forward to hearing how it goes for you.  Assuming all goes well, are you leaving soon afterwards?  Where are you going?

It's really great to be able to share this experience with others who are doing the same.

GOOD LUCK!

Kellie

Thanks Sarah,

It is such a relief.  At least we have a real date instead of hypothetical timescales.

I'm both nervous AND excited.

I've only been on this site for a short time, but it's reassuring knowing that others are experiencing the same thing.

You and Martin have been so generous with your time and advice.  I really appreciate it.  What will UKY do without you?  Have you thought about that repatriation consultancy business?  You guys would make a fortune!

lol. Id love to get into it. I hope for a while Im able to do casework for BCIS in Houston just to have the experience. Either that or be an Immigration Officer at the airport so I can show those guys how real Immigration is done - with good customer service, a smile, a hidden warry eye, and a firm but fair hand.

Laurie and Brooke,

Thanks for your well wishes and good luck to you too!  Your interview is less than a week away!  I'm sure that you have nothing to worry about.  That's so much easier said than done, though.  What a combination of excitement and nerves! :-\\\\

Assuming all goes well, will you be leaving for the US soon afterwards?

MelB is next in line after you guys... we're all in this together and will be anxiously awaiting to hear from you on Friday!  Again, good luck!

To everybody who is repatriating:

I've just been on the phone chatting with my dearest and closest friend in Chicago.  She was checking up on our progress and I was telling her the details about this, that and the other and how worrying it all is, etc. etc.

Well, she said she completely understands the anxiety, but ordered me to stop MICRO-WORRYING about everything!  :-\\\\

It's the hardest I've laughed in days and she's right!

I thought that any of you who might be worrying like me (but I hope you're not) might appreciate this advice!   :D

Hi everyone!

I am back in London, I have been going through the packet 4 from the embassy and just wanted to say, (you may already know this), but there are new requirements for the photos you need to take to the interview.

As well as the two ¾ frontal view pictures you now also need:

"Two remaining photographs must be:

_ a full face photo and taken within the last six months;

_ 2 inches (50mm) square with the head centred in the frame;

_ the head (measured from the top of the hair to the bottom of the chin) should measure between 1 & 1 3/8 inches (25mm to 35mm) with the eye level and between 1 & 1/8 inches to 1 & 3/8 inches (25mm and 35 mm) from the bottom of the photograph;

_ in color or black and white against a white or off white background (photographs taken in front of a busy, patterned or dark backgrounds are not acceptable)

_ unmounted, full face, with the face covering about 50% of the area of the photograph. In general, the head of the applicant, including both face and hair, should be shown from the crown of the head to the tip of the chin on top and bottom, and from hair-line side-to-side. It is preferable that the ears be exposed."

This is new as of May 17 2004.

We had the ¾ frontal view pictures, but didn't know about the others until we got the pack from the embassy!  :o

Just wanted to give anyone else who didn't know a heads up on this.  :)
