Samoas and Moon Pies!
« on: November 01, 2009, 11:08:10 PM »
This weekend we went to a weekend away and were introduce to Tunnocks brand treats. I was happy to report that they have a Carmel Log that tastes almost like a Samoa Girl Scout Cookie, not an exact match, but close enough for a reminiscent treat.

They also have Marshmellow Teacakes  that are a close match to Moon Cakes, the marshmellow is a lot softer (similar to fluff)

Hmmm.... I've had the Tunnock teacakes, and those are nice. I like them, but don't like moon pies. I didn't really find them to be that simliar, but maybe it's just me. I had some caramel wafer thing by Tunnock's, but it was kind of hard to eat.  :-\\\\

They have Polish cookies at my Tesco which are almost exactly like Samoas, only they have nuts as well as coconut.  Yum!  ;)

This is the problem, the name seems to change from store to store, but they are the same cookies.  I think they have changed the name and they are using up the old stock.

I know they come in a tray covered in a light blue bag, well not a bag but sealed bag thing.  That isn't very helpful, I will look when I get home tonight.   :)  They are in the ethnic foods section of both our Asda and Tesco though.  There a a few varieties, but this one has a picture of a coconut on it with some hazelnuts.

Also, they are very similar, but less caramelly.  They still have some, but not as much.

I think you had the carmel wafer, not the carmel log

Hmmm. I think you must be right!  It tasted nice, but just getting a bite off that thing was so difficult! I will have to look out for the Caramel Log, then.  :)

Well, that description sort of helps! I assume they are with the biscuits and say something about being Polish cookies?

Caramel Logs are just the same, except they have toasted coconut on the outside.

They are in the Polish section at both stores I go to, but they were sold out yesterday.  I will check again tonight.  I know it is a four letter word, but I just can't seem to think of it.  Play or Take or ahhhhhhhhhhh, something like that.
