Where to get cheap fairy lights?
« on: November 13, 2009, 10:03:54 PM »
It's coming up to my second Christmas in the UK, and this year I want to get a tree and do some serious holiday decorating.
I've been looking at Christmas tree lighting, and can't find any simple white lights for less than £10. Is this standard, or can I can them cheaper somewhere?

Tesco usually have some cheap ones for a fiver or less. I also got some for £1 once ... from a £1 shop! Places like Argos and Wilkinsons may also have cheap lights.

Next has a nice selection and they're not too dear (the online shop - not the high street).

It's a bit late now, but if you decide you want more for next year, check eBay (or other online shops/posting boards) after Christmas.  You can usually find very good deals on seasonal items after the season.

I was able to get some decorations for our child's room at the Pound Shop. Our local one had tonnes of tinsel and different colored lights available.

Another cheap place you may want to check out is Wilkinsons, if there is one close to you. They have inexpensive fairy lights for sale.

Thank you all for this!!! I went to Tesco and of course they were sold out of the cheap Xmas lights, and then stood there in shock when it was like £10 for a strand of 40 lights.... and we're talking closer to £20 for outdoor lights!!! I wanted to die.... I remember getting $1 strands during Black Friday sales back in the States, and just couldn't justify spending £10 on lights...

£1 store here I come!!!!

Wilkos is always cheap too.
