Continental Changed Their Baggage Allowance.

They used to allow 2 checked bags for free for flights between Europe and the US.  Now the first bag is free and the second is $50 ($45 if you check it in online).  Any additional bag is $100.

Not that I typically need more than one checked bag when traveling, but the old policy was certainly handy when I was moving over here!

Thanks for posting this topic - my hubby and I are travelling to London in February on Continental and I would not have known about this new rule. It will be okay for this trip but I was really looking forward to being able to fly 6 bags over in May with myself, DH and DS...darn!

If you bought your tickets prior to 2 Oct 09 you still have the 2 bag allowance.  Also, if you check-in online before your flight you'll save $5 per bag.   

Thanks Teletabby, however we still haven't purchased out tickets for our move in May so we'll get stuck with the baggage increase then, but I will check-in online if it will save us $5 each (per bag?).
