Quote from: msnbc.com
WASHINGTON - A leading Senate Democrat said Monday his party is determined to push through a health care overhaul bill, President Barack Obama's top domestic issue, with or without support from opposition Republicans.

Republicans have made clear they aren't supporting the bill, which foretells of a rowdy Senate floor debate next month on legislation that would extend health care coverage to roughly 31 million Americans, crack down on insurance company practices that deny or dilute benefits and curtail the growth of spending on medical care nationally.

"We prefer to go at it with Republicans if we can reach compromises in some areas," said Sen. Charles Schumer. "But we're not going to not pass a bill."

After watching them roll over and play dead throughout the Bush administration, it's good to see some backbone and toughness out of the Democratic Party.

And it'll be funny to see them lose control in 2010 and the grand finale to top it all off being in 2012 with Obama getting fired.

Contrary to what Obama and his rank and file Democrats think, Americans aren't stupid enough to believe that his bailout worked or billions of dollars of our "bailout" money hasn't slipped through the cracks on their watch.  "Health Care Reform" is just a diversion from the obvious reality that is their failure.  Americans won't take it.  Mark my words, the Democrats will be out on their asses in 2010, and Obama will be raising money for his Presidential library in 2013.

Mark my words....

Small print....

What a sad, angry point of view you espouse, and you don't even have the courage of your own convictions.

It is not sad or angry.  I'm past that point.  The country has been going in the wrong direction for as long as I can remember.  What would be the point of getting sad or angry?  There is a few glimmers of hope that I can see. The passage HR 1207. The revival of the Conservative movement. The spurning of NeoCon ideology and the rejection of moderate and liberal 5th column-ists inside the Republican party.

I'm just throwing my prediction out there ... which is the Dem majorities in both the House and Senate will end in 2010, and the incompetent Obama presidency will follow their lead in 2012.

"Health Care Reform" is just a diversion from the obvious reality that is their failure.

Do you really believe that trying to improve health care access for 46m uninsured and countless other underinsured people is merely "a diversion"?

Depends on what your definition of 'improve' is...

In that context, my definition of 'improve' would be 'make accessible so innocent chidren and people in unfortunate situations don't have to die because they can't afford healthcare'...but that's just me and my 2p.

Personally I do not think it's a diversion. It's about time somebody has enough balls to put this to the American people. But I just don't see the American public getting socialised health care.

Personally I think Obama will take us into Iran, AFTER he bolsters the troop levels in Iraq and Afganistan AND if he can find enough troops. If he can't, expect a draft to be the answer. Don't think so? Wait and see.

I am not aligned with either party. They are both just as bad as each other. blah blah blah promise blah blah blah previous administration blah blah blah

Still tired of coteries and bans. But hanging about anyway.

I do pick sides... and if you watch this I'm sure you'll see which side I'm not on...

I lived without healthcare for many years because it was not offered by my employer and completely unaffordable to pay out of pocket.  I'm hoping that the American government does give this option to the public.

Then we shall move forward without republican support.  It's time to nut up or shut up, people. Change needs to be made and it needs to be made swiftly, concisely, and without hesitation.  As I've told my republican cousins, frankly, you being able to sh!t comfortably is not worth the millions of people who currently go without even the basics in healthcare.

America is one of the last remaining countries in the "civilized" world with no means of providing basic healthcare to it's citizens.

I agree. It's criminal that something as basic as healthcare is only available to the healthy (e.g. the employed).

The NHS has its flaws, but my gods, it's a better system than the American one.

I lived without healthcare for many years because it was not offered by my employer and completely unaffordable to pay out of pocket.  I'm hoping that the American government does give this option to the public.

That's what I was saying; I do not think the American public will ever accept socialised healthcare. I have only one aunt who supports this. The entire rest of my family could have been those in that video. I get this sh*t on FB from the family, I get sh*t emails with all this crap about about Obama, just constantly running healthcare and Obama down. It just goes on and on. I do sometimes think I was switched at birth. I didn't vote for the guy nor did I vote for the other. But he is in and I wish they just let him get on with things. Can't they afford him the respect to get on with it? I mean after all they afforded and respected Bush in his quests.

But that video re-enforced why I can't live in that country. And why does GOD have to always be the central pivot point?
