A former BA flight attendent rang iinto LBC this morning and pointed out that as many of the cabin crew have BA flights booked over Xmas themselves, there is probably a good chance they will call the strike off!

Thank you so much for such "insider information" Navie lol -  you're the best atleast now i saved time by not calling my cc....

I've been like a hawk checking the BA website every 15 minutes on the dot and the other 14 minutes i'm on the forum website....venting here really helps a lot! Thank you for reading and i truly appreciate your kind thoughts and hopes for all of us BA travelers out there - so far it looks like BA is taking legal action regarding the validity of the ballots - i'm really trying to stay optimistic and not stress but i cant help it! I think we should all just purchase a 747 jet, name it the UK-Yankee airline and live happily ever after!

On a side note, this provides an excellent introduction for my essay that is due tomorrow, as it does a critical analysis of a specific American union's reputation management practices.

Best of luck to all of you traveling, I hope BA and the union are able to work out a compromise!

I just read this-

The BA comrade in California: £50k a year union activist who lives in LA and hasn't flown for a year

Is she on this forum?

Reading about it is just getting me irritated, so I'm  hoping someone can just give me some answers so I don't go loco trying to find them on my own. My mom is coming from San Antonio to Newcastle for Christmas. She booked on Expedia, and is taking United from San Antonio to Dulles, Continental from Dulles to Heathrow, and BA from Heathrow to Newcastle.

1. BA's 'alliance' partners are not affected, correct? (More to the point, the United or Continental flights won't be affected, right?)

2. Is it both international and domestic flights being possibly disrupted by the strike? Should we look for an alternative way for her to get from Heathrow to Newcastle?

Thanks in advance.

It looks like they will be almost unaffected if they can get to the UK.

Did I read that BA will make other arrangements if they go out?

There is always the train or even the airport coach, I would think.

Very good news! Everyone can breathe a sigh of relief!!

except for the unionized employees who voted to strike, especially when the decision came down to the union having the wrong ballot mailing list which British Airways refused to provide one that included who the recent 1000k employees they made redundant but at least the bright side is that people will get to come home or visit for the holidays.   <-- that is one run on sentence.

Anyway, congrats to those of you waiting to see if you'll get to travel this holiday!

The reasons for the strike were somewhat ridiculous in the first place.  And it begs the question should unions catch up with the times a bit?
