Applying for National Insurance Number
« on: December 15, 2009, 03:09:23 PM »
Hi all,

How do we apply for a National Insurance Number?
My wife is a US Citizen, recently moved to the UK on the Spousal Visa.

We are just trying to sort out all the things like health care and such so any information you can provide on this would be great. For instance...where do we apply for a national health number so that she can get a doctor etc???

Many thanks!!

This question was just asked.

You don't need an NHS number to register with a GP.  Just go to the local surgery and register.  Your wife will be then given an NHS number once everything has been processed.
