Can anyone help...? (Looking to purchase plant as a gift)

I had an epiphany of what to get my sister for Christmas this year after watching "Grow Your Own Drugs - Christmas Special" last night on BBC2.  I want to buy my sister some Crocus Sativus (Saffron) bulbs / plants, but she lives in the states...  (My sister lives in Michigan.)

Can anyone recommend a nursery / garden centre in the US that I could possibly try to order from?  I've done Google searches and found a few places that claim to sell the bulbs at really good prices, but seeing as I'm not sure how reputable the places are I'm at a bit of a loss.     I even looked on ebay, but there're only a few places selling them, but at stupid prices for just 1 bulb and the sellers from the UK cannot ship to the US.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Thanks Anne, unfortunately they don't ship to the US, nor do they have the plant I'm after.  

[ETA] Will have to keep the place bookmarked for future purchases for myself methinks though!

Is your sister an avid gardener? If so, maybe there's a local nursery that she knows and likes. Could you get in touch with a friend or family member and ask? I ordered a rose bush for my father one year and did just that - phoned a nursery near him that I knew he liked,, ordered and had it delivered to him.

Doh!! Sorry - I just saw the subject line and thought "ooh, I have a suggestion" without even reading the rest of the post!   

My dad is a massive gardener, he helps with city parks, but he lives in PA.  I can ask him for you.

Avid gardener and cook (very artsy).    I thought the edible Saffron plant would be a nice touch on both accounts.  I may do that, but I have no clue what's near her.  I've tried emailing BIL, but still not heard anything back from him yet.  I asked him if there were any nearby that might have an online shop, but think will ammend that to ask if she has a favorite garden shop she likes to go to and then phoning to see if they have the plant I'm after.

No worries, its frustrating seeing shops that sell what I'm after here in the UK, but can't get it shipped to the states!

Thanks bookgrl!  My Aunt and Uncle and several cousins live in PA, so if it's something local to them I could always ask my Uncle to get it and pay him back via my Dad.  Didn't think of that!   

Where in Michigan, I have friends all the state who might be able to help but I need to know where?

My sister lives in Canton, just outside of Detroit (near Ikea).
