Unreal! I can't imagine how this was allowed to happen.

I saw that this morning.

Utterly frightening!

I hope she is found safely soon.

It doesn't make much sense.

The woman arrived and gave the name that the police were expecting.

How would someone know to arrive at that station and what name to give?

I suppose if this woman knew the mother she might know the name of her friend who would go pick up the kid.

On the other hand, if you were arrested on immigration issues and you wanted your foreign born child to stay in the UK you could arrange for someone to come get your child and disappear them into the ether.

Quote from: BBC
"The details she gave to police corresponded with the name of the woman Audrey's mother had told police would pick up her daughter, and as a result she left the police station with the child at approximately 10.40am."

This makes it sound like the police didn't check any ID, which, if true, is incredible.

The woman arrived and gave the name that the police were expecting.

How would someone know to arrive at that station and what name to give?

Yeah, there's definitely something fishy about the situation.

It is possible she over heard the conversation take place so knew what name to use and beat the 'real' women to the police station. You would think the police would verify the identity of the pick up person before handing over a child though. I just hope they find the little girl soon.

Good point, maybe she was a visitor at the house, or was just near the person at a store, or something.  Of course, if she was a visitor then the person should know who she was.

I was thinking maybe she was another person on the list that they called and she recommended the friend and then went and claimed the child as that person, but then they would know who she was and how would she know the friend she named would agree to get the kid?

The police cleared needed to take some more information.  How do they know her age though?

Did she give a birth date and the police are believeing that it is the real date?   Did she give a birthdate that they expected and they are taking that as real?  Are they estimating, because 46 is a pretty exact age?  Did she show some form of ID with the birthdate and the officer didn't notice the different name?  WTF is going on?

That's what I was thinking, also would they deport her if they can't find her child?

If the police were worried about that, why were they arranging for the child to be collected at all? They could have banged the pair of them up in Yarl''s Wood if deportation was imminent.

The baby has been found!  :) This is all I could find so far. It's not much but there should be more to come later. I'm really curious to know what happened.
