finding it difficult with nails!!!
« on: January 04, 2010, 05:40:54 PM »
ive always had short nails...reason being, i have a biting habit
so i finally went out today and got fake ones put on. and im finding it so difficult to do stuff now
like typing! and also small things like getting money out my jeans pocket. it may sound like a silly question but is there a trick to doing stuff with nails or is it something i gotta get use to?

How long of nails did you get put on? I tried fake nails and the first time I had it done I couldn't do anything and wound up removing them the day after I had them put on. The second time, I asked for short nails and just had them long enough to look like natural nail-length and I was fine.

Also, my choir teacher from HS told us a story that she had fake nails for her wedding and couldn't get her contact lenses out that night!

That happened to me the first time I had fake nails. I didn't even think about the fact I wore contacts until that night when I went to take them out and realised I had no idea how I was going to do it. I sat there and cried. :-[ :P But then managed to get them out and eventually got quite good at it. You just adjust after a while until it all becomes second nature.

The really embarrassing moment I had once was when I was at a restaurant and paid up front and the girl layed my credit card on the counter and I couldn't pick it up. I was chasing it all around but the counter had a lip so I couldn't slide it over the edge. She finally had to pick it up and hand it to me. :-[

It's been a while since I  had them, but I remember doing a lot of things with the side of my finger instead of the tips, like picking up credit cards, opening soda cans, taking out contacts, etc.  As for typing, you do just get used to it.  You're making me miss my acrylic nails now!
